It’s June 2020, and I’ve not worked at all since March 2020. COVID-19 has completely gutted the events and weddings industry, and it’s likely we won’t be able to get back to doing what we love until summer 2021, if we’re lucky. So, I’m spreading my photographic horizons and am now taking bookings for events, weddings, family portraits, and showroom interior photography!

I’ve always enjoyed getting those spectacular wide shots at the start of a party, especially venues like Liberty’s of London, Alexandra Palace, the V&A, and the Natural History Museum. So when a previous client introduced me to LEMA Chelsea, who were looking for interior photography of their revamped showroom, it was perfect timing.

Located in the heart of Chelsea, the showroom is right next door to Chelsea Old Town Hall on the famous King’s Road, venue for countless weddings I’ve photographed over the years! It’s a furniture showroom as well as a window into Lema’s design world, and the brief was to capture each of the seven ‘rooms’ in wide shots that also show off the colour schemes of each area, as well as highlighting the key furniture pieces.

I shot with my glorious Fuji 8-16mm f/2.8 lens (12-24 equivalent) and in a small handful of shots I’ve added some on-set lighting with a small LED panel, just to lift out some detail and shape here and there. Generally, though, I like to use the ambient lighting, otherwise it starts to look different to actually being there, and I don’t want to lose that feeling.

Here’s a few of my favourites – looking forward to revisiting the showroom in the future when they’ve turned it all around with new pieces.
