TAG Heuer opened a new boutique store in the Bluewater Shopping Centre and I was commissioned to shoot interiors and exteriors of the store before it opened to the public on launch day. At the time of writing this is one of their largest boutiques and the only one with dual aspect shopfront windows.
The brief: to capture the interior and exterior without staff and customers, showcasing the size of the space from various angles, as well as interesting display details. A handful of images accompanied a press release same day, and the rest are purely for TAG Heuer’s archives.
The shoot: we booked two hours from 7:30am to capture interiors and exteriors before customers arrived. Shot with one camera, a range of lenses, tripod, and polarising filter to reduce window reflections. However, the way sunlight enters this part of the shopping centre caused unusable reflections on the front windows so I stayed later until around 11am to re-shoot the exteriors once the sunlight had moved around. However, by this point the shopping centre was busy with customers, so to remove them from the photos I used a combination of long exposures and exposure blending.
