The magnificent Grade I listed Mansion House, built in 1739 by architect George Dance the Elder, serves as the home and office of the Lord Mayor of the City of London. Its historic grandeur provides a spectacular backdrop for events of all kinds, from business meetings and corporate events to receptions, dinners, and special celebrations.
I was commissioned by a university college client to provide Mansion House event photography for their 60th anniversary dinner, bringing alumni, supporters, and VIPs together for a truly special evening hosted by the Lord Mayor himself.
My work began with venue photography half an hour before guests arrived. Once doors opened, attendees were invited into the impressive Salon, an anteroom outside the main hall, for a drinks reception. When called to dinner guests stepped into the breathtaking Egyptian Hall, the crown jewel of Mansion House event spaces. This vast hall, lined with towering columns and overlooked by tall stained glass windows, is ideal for banquets, receptions, and corporate conferences.
During dinner, my approach avoids photographing guests mid-course. Instead, I focus on wide shots of the bustling room, candid interactions between courses, and comprehensive coverage of speeches, presentations, and performances. On this occasion guests enjoyed a performance by the college men’s choir from the balcony, enhanced by the hall’s exceptional acoustics.
Here’s a selection of images from the evening, and if you’re looking for a Mansion House event photographer I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch today to check availability and request a personal quote.
