I recently had the pleasure of providing Lemonia event photography for a client’s 50th birthday lunch at this charming Greek restaurant in North London, a ten-minute walk from Chalk Farm station. It was my first time photographing an event at Lemonia, a family-run restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and a spacious private room at the back, which comfortably seats 60–70 guests—ideal for intimate celebrations and private events.
In daylight hours the space is naturally lit thanks to large skylights overhead, creating the perfect conditions for candid event photography. Natural light is always preferable for capturing authentic moments – I really hate it when there’s a flash popping off every few seconds – and at Lemonia the light fills the room evenly, giving a bright, airy feel to every shot.
I was booked for a two-hour session to cover the pre-lunch drinks reception, the welcome toast, and the first courses. My approach focused on capturing candid interactions: guests laughing, sharing conversations, and enjoying the celebration naturally. This way I’m not constantly interrupting for posed shots during the meal, and nobody needs to be worried about being snapped with a mouthful of food.
