I was commissioned to photograph a fireside chat and panel discussion event in Sandbox 1 at Level39 in Canary Wharf. My brief at events like this is to capture what happens on stage, of course, but also as much of the atmosphere and audience involvement as possible, before and after the main event.
Level39 is a fantastic networking and co-working space on level 39 of One Canada Place, focussed on the fintech industry and led by the incredible Amy French (the first speaker in the gallery below). Sandbox 1 itself is a lovely, bright space for this sort of event. It can be arranged theatre-style with rows of seating, or like it was for this event with guests seated at tables scattered around the room. The table arrangement is my favourite for a few reasons – it encourages more of an open, round-table discussion amongst guests before the event starts; it lets guests take notes either by hand or on a tablet or laptop much more comfortably than in their lap; and of course it gives you somewhere to keep the delicious snacks that L39 is well known for – their catering teams are absolutely superb.
