Fulham Palace is one of my favourite venues in London to photograph events and weddings. For one thing it’s just a short drive from where I live in SW London, and for another it’s in walking distance from a beautiful tree-lined stroll along the Thames, two beautiful churches for your wedding, and the iconic Putney Bridge.
But the main reason I love Fulham Palace is that it’s just perfect for parties and wedding receptions (you can see some of my Fulham Palace weddings here). There’s the gorgeous courtyard with the clock tower and fountain centrepiece, the intimate chapel, the Great Room (perfect for late night dancing), the sprawling back gardens, and of course the picturesque Walled Garden, an oasis of nature tucked away in the heart of Fulham and Putney. It just feels like there’s a gorgeous photo waiting to be taken around every corner.
So when I got the invitation to photograph Gina & Oliver’s 40th and 50th birthday party there a few weeks ago, I needed no persuading! It was right in the middle of a crazy heatwave in London, but the party was timed to start just as the sun dipped over the buildings, leaving us bathed in lovely natural light and perfect cool temperatures.
And what a party! With welcome hugs and dancing with The Human Hedges, live music from the colourful (and tall!) Top Banana Stilts Band, summer cocktails courtesy of Bovingdons (led by the brilliant Chloe Goreham from the Fulham Palace events team), and the marquee all decked out in flowers and ribbons by Effect Event, and of course all those happy guests, my job was such a pleasure!
While you’re here: I love saying hello to people like you who check out my journal posts, so if you like these photos and they made you smile, please do leave a comment to say hello underneath the gallery. Thanks!
