As a London event photographer I’ve photographed a lot of 21st birthday parties and 50th birthday parties all over the city, from Richmond to Hampton, but I don’t think I’ve ever photographed a 21st birthday and a 50th birthday at the same time, so this was a fun first! Victoria and her mum Hillary took over two of the rooms at the magnificent Royal Automobile Club in London’s Pall Mall for their joint birthday celebration, and what an opulent venue it is. Not to be confused with the RAC, it’s a one-time gentleman’s club that in these more enlightened times now welcomes women, and one of the best equipped such clubs in London, sporting Edwardian Turkish baths, an Italian marble swimming pool, squash courts, and a stunning column-lined oval entrance hall.

Starting in the Committee Room for pre-dinner drinks, we all moved across to the other side of the building to the Mountbatten Room for dinner and dancing. Everyone looked fantastic in ballgowns and tuxedoes and there were so many lovely candid moments for me to find, as well as some beautiful architecture to use in my wider shots. Here’s just some of my favourite images from their full gallery. If you like my style of event photography and would like to know more, you can find all the details right here.
