Peter was looking for Rochelle Canteen event photography for his 40th birthday at this lovely little restaurant tucked away in Arnold Circus in Shoreditch. Peter wanted stylish, candid 40th birthday party photography and that’s exactly the kind of photos I love to make at birthday parties, so I was most definitely up for it!
I’d actually never heard of Rochelle Canteen before, but now I’m looking for an excuse to head back there for lunch as soon as it’s a bit safer; their food is incredible, and the setting is as detached from the usual inner-city lunch venues as it’s possible to find, tucked away down some side streets, hidden behind a non-descript black door, in the shadow of an old school building.
Peter told me the dress code for guests was ‘East End Black Tie’, which I’d also never heard of, and Google wasn’t much help either. Judging from how everyone turned out, it means DRESS FABULOUSLY DARLING, and that’s what they did!
