I love photographing a good awards night and the Aquatics GB Awards 2024 at The Londoner was a great awards night! Aquatics GB is the organisation representing Britain’s Paralympic and Olympic swimming athletes, and this was their annual celebration of the best of the best in their ranks, from the athletes themselves to the coaches and the support staff keeping them all going.
The brief was to provide as wide a selection of images from across the whole evening, ending of course with the awards themselves. So I covered posed shots at their branding wall, a small private ceremony to celebrate Aquatics GB legends from years gone by, the pre-awards reception, and the main dinner and awards hosted by the inimitable and exuberant Colin Murray (what a pro).
So quite a lot to get through! But I love a vibrant, busy event and was all over the venue from start to finish photographing all the little candid moments, all the awards, and as many wide shots and details as possible to capture the vibe.
