Normally, my corporate event photography is commissioned by the client: they get in touch, I send a quote, and we book it in. But when I heard about Brain Tumour Research’s first major London fundraising gala I did something a little different and offered my photography services entirely for free.

Unfortunately I can’t afford to do this for every charity – in fact, it’s the first time I’ve ever done it. But Brain Tumour Research is close to my heart, having made a meaningful impact for a loved one in my life, so this felt like the least I could do to give back.

The gala dinner took place in the ballroom at The Dorchester, Park Lane, one of London’s most iconic venues. I began with a pre-event briefing and team group shot, then moved through the drinks reception, dinner, and speeches. VIP guests included Alfie Boe, Johnny Vaughan, Pete Waterman, Caprice Bourret, Clare Grogan, Theo Burrell, Sarah Beeny, Davina McCall, and many more – but with so much happening there was no time to be star-struck.

As a Dorchester event photographer my approach is always candid and unobtrusive. I’ll always be very happy to snap a group shot if requested, but documentary-style coverage is my speciality, the sort of photos that capture authentic interactions between guests. These are the moments that reveal the personality and atmosphere of the evening, highlighting the human side of the charity rather than staged, corporate perfection.

Here’s some of my favourite images from the night. If you’re looking for a Dorchester event photographer or corporate event coverage in London, get in touch today to check availability and request a personal quote.
