In October 2014 I had the privilege of spending an evening with Dominique and her family and (many, many!) friends, photographing an event at Gordon Ramsey’s Union Street Café, the venue for a very special birthday dinner in Dominique’s honour. The party had hired out the entire restaurant for the evening, and it made for a very special atmosphere – you can’t go wrong with good food and good company!
My approach at events is to document the evening as it happened, capturing not just the big moments like speeches and cakes, but lots of little moments between guests that happen fleetingly and are gone. I’m there to find those laughs, smiles, kisses and fond looks, and re-tell those moments as a story in photos. I’m very proud to say that Dominique was incredibly pleased with her photos, and tells me her family are all still enjoying them months after the event. And that’s why I love my job – bringing joy to families with a record of their special day that will last forever!
