Tony Robinson And The Blitz Witch was one of a series of shows in which Tony and Becky McCall investigated myths and legends from around the UK. The other two episodes were called ‘The Medieval Reincarnation’ and ‘The Ghosts of Glastonbury’ and aired in 2008 on Channel 4.
We shot these cool ‘spectral’ portraits in the Spitalfields Market one morning. I lit the background with a flash gelled green on a stand around waist height, pointed up at an angle towards our heroes. Then there’s a warm gelled flash through an umbrella camera right providing the key and the deep shadows for mystery.
